8 Years & looking forward to new business confidence...

From The Advertiser (Adelaide) September 7, 2010 NAI Harcourts Brock Commercial acquired Langfords as one of its first actions under the new NAI Harourts brand but Mr Bojanic said he wanted to maintain a "boutique'' business in Adelaide. "I saw fit to continue in a boutique agency format, as LHB (Langfords) did since 1959, specialising in the Hospitality Industry (hotels, motels, cafes, bottle shops etc),'' he says. "The sale of licensed establishments is very unique and I felt that the corporate structure of a large firm like NAI Harcourts would not be the right vehicle.'' Mr Bojanic started at Langfords in 2001. Getting Ready To Sell Your Business
Monday, March 04, 2013 - 12:38pm
Too often business owners fall in love with the idea of a business sale, what their business might be worth and have even contemplated what they might spend the sale proceeds on. There's nothing wrong with this, unless it takes over from the pragmatics of what needs to be done to ensure a business sale. The transaction market for SMEs is an active one at the moment. Sales and mergers are occurring. However, most buyers are approaching the market either looking for a great business or a good business that they can buy at below market price. If you have a truly great business then you will command a market. There will be buyers simply because of the quality and uniqueness of your business. The demand and pricing for good businesses will depend on how well they are prepared and positioned for sale. Less than good businesses will sit on the shelf - there is not a ready market for them, other than distress sales. Most businesses are not truly great businesses; however, there are plenty of good businesses. So it comes back to preparation and positioning. Preparation is about having your business sale ready. Key things buyers are looking for include strong profits, a provable growth story and identifiable synergy benefits. The profits and growth need to be more than the recent events of the past quarter or year; trends are proven by passage of time; and have three plus years of proven results and you have a good story to tell. Monday, January 23, 2012 - 1:16pm
Pub and hotel owners have welcomed Prime Minister Julia Gillard's watered-down pokies plan, saying it brings certainty to an issue that has been debated for years. Hearing the news this weekend that Labor would no longer honour its promise to him to introduce pre-commitment at pokies venues, independent MP Andrew Wilkie has withdrawn his support for Labor, leaving the government with just a one-seat majority. Gillard has instead proposed her own plan, saying Wilkie's had little support. The government's new strategy includes a trial of pre-commitment technology for poker machines, ahead of a proposed rollout in 2016. Hotel broker Nick Tinning says the marketplace is cautious. "Talking to my buyers, they're saying it's a good sign, but they don't necessarily trust the government. There are still some reserved feelings." he told SmartCompany this morning. Continued questions over pokies reform will undoubtedly play a part in that uncertainty, experts say. Many owners are still trying to understand the new package put forward by Gillard - the Australian Hotels Association told SmartCompany this morning it was still working through all the details. The uncertainty is magnified by the fact Tony Abbott has already promised to scrap the proposed reform if he wins office in 2013. Question: Do you mean you will buy other real estate? 'We (ALE Property Group) are keen to expand into what I would call strategic real esate, like service stations with the right covenants. Pubs are the best example of strategic real estate. Regulatory restrictions around a pub makes them a very valuable piece of real estate because it is hard to move pubs or to build a brand new pub, particularly in the metroploitan areas of cities.' The Crown & Sceptre Hotel, Adelaide has just been announced the winner of the "Best Drinks Selection" Award at the coveted 2010 Australian Bar Awards held in Sydney.
"We are thrilled to have received this award after being honoured as a finalist for the past 5 years. I have put so much effort into developing a range of drinks that will inspire, educate and excite not only our staff to be creative but also to intrigue and amaze every guest from our regulars to the most travelled bar hoppers of the world. The only problem I have now is where I'm going to fit it on the already crowded back bar..." said Andrew McDowell, Owner
This is only the third time an Adelaide venue has been recognised in the ten year history of the awards and makes it the second award for Andrew and the team. Andrew also won Adelaide's first ever Australian Bar Awards in 2007 for 'Operator of the Year'.
The Crown & Sceptre are celebrating with a huge party on Friday 1st October at 6pm with complimentary drinks from their award winning range being offered throughout the night.
The award celebrates the country's best venue that goes to extraordinary lengths to offer a balanced and well thought out selection of drinks across all categories. This award isn't necessarily about having an exhaustive list, but about the thought behind the selections. Bars in this category scour the globe for rare potions and demonstrate a passion for fine products.
